MATT JACOBS

BIO
Matt Jacobs is an award-winning former federal prosecutor, distinguished trial lawyer and seasoned appellate advocate.
​
His practice focuses on criminal defense, civil litigation, internal investigations and crisis management.
As an Assistant United States Attorney in New York and California, Matt prosecuted al-Qaeda terrorists, mafia bosses, and child sex traffickers, among many others, and never lost a trial. He also led numerous grand jury investigations related to bank fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, health care fraud, and other white collar matters. For his success in the courtroom, Matt received "Prosecutor of the Year" honors from a national law enforcement organization.

Before serving as a federal prosecutor, Matt specialized in complex commercial litigation and white collar defense at Davis Polk & Wardwell, one of the nation's premier law firms. At Davis Polk, Matt represented corporate and individual clients in a wide range of civil matters, including securities, tort, and legal malpractice actions. He also represented banks, funds, and individuals in connection with criminal and regulatory investigations into alleged violations of securities laws, tax laws, and the FCPA.

In addition to his experience as a federal prosecutor and defense lawyer, Matt served as a law clerk to the Honorable Andrew J. Guilford, United States District Judge for the Central District of California.

Immediately before founding the Law Office of Matt Jacobs, Matt was a candidate for United States Congress in California's 26th Congressional District.
